Pro-Kannada activists and parents have accused John Philip, vice-principal of Holy Cross School, Whitefield, of misbehaving with the school’s girl students. They roughed up the official on the school premises on Saturday.
The incident occurred during a parent-teacher meeting on Saturday morning. The activists took up the parents’ ‘cause’ and during the heated argument that ensued, Philip was assaulted.
Later, the activists and parents staged a protest against Philip, who had joined the school six months ago. They told the police that Philip had misbehaved with schoolgirls by using “foul language.” The girls had allegedly complained to their parents about his misbehaviour.
The school management has denied the allegation, but at the meeting on Saturday, Philip “admitted to his mistake.” The police said he did so as he feared for his safety at the meeting. Assistant commissioner of police (airport sub-division) Martin Alvaris said John accepted that he had misbehaved.
“In fact, there are other allegations against him regarding the arrangement of transport for students and this had irked the parents,” he said, adding that a case was not registered yet.
However, Whitefield police said they are discussing the issue with the aggrieved parties. “Philips may file a complaint against the parents and activists for assaulting him,” said a police officer.
